Home Care Information

dental care is important to help keep your pet’s teeth in the best
possible condition and to lengthen the time between dental cleanings.
A combination of home dental care and regular professional cleanings can
extend your pet’s life expectancy by years.
Brushing:
The best thing you can do for your pet’s teeth is daily brushing.
We have toothbrushes available that are specially designed to suit your
pet’s mouth. We also offer pet-safe toothpaste in vanilla mint,
malt and poultry flavors to suit your pet’s palate.
C.E.T.
HEXtra Chews: C.E.T. HEXtra Chews combine the mechanical action of
rawhide and antimicrobial power of chlorhexidine to control plaque and
prevent tartar from forming. C.E.T. chews are basted with a great poultry
flavor dogs love! Chews come in sizes for all dogs from petite to extra
large and special cat chews made from freeze-dried fish. Pets love C.E.T.
Chews as a daily treat!
OraVet: OraVet Plaque Prevention Gel is a once weekly dental sealant
that binds to tooth surfaces. This treatment helps keep the plaque and
tarter from attaching to the teeth by creating an invisible barrier. OraVet
can be swabbed on the outer surface of the upper teeth or applied to a
C.E.T. chew. Studies show that using OraVet weekly can reduce plaque and
tartar by 47%.
C.E.T. Oral Hygiene Rinse: C.E.T. Oral Hygiene Rinse application
is easily applied by a squirt in either side of your pet’s mouth.
The treatment spreads throughout the oral cavity, coating the teeth with
the anti-plaque agent chlorhexidine which protects against plaque and
tartar forming bacteria.
BreathaLyser: BreathaLyser contains natural bioactive enzymes,
chlorhexidine, and other active ingredients to help reduce tartar build-up
and bad breath by destroying plaque forming bacteria.
Hills T/D: Hills T/D has been clinically proven to reduce gingivitis,
stains, and bad breath. It contains a vegetable fiber matrix which scrubs
the exposed tooth surface like an edible toothbrush, reducing bacteria-laden
plaque. Available for both dogs and cats, this can be given as a daily
diet or as a treat.
Any of the above products can be used in conjunction with each other to
help give your pet the best dental health possible. Since tartar and plaque
can start building up in your pet’s mouth within a day of their
professional dental cleaning it is important to perform proper home care
for sustained oral health. Additionally, we recommend the Porphyromonas
“P3” vaccine for dogs. This vaccine targets the three main
types of bacteria that cause periodontal disease and is given as two injections
three weeks apart, then annually as a booster. Annual to semi-annual dental
evaluations with your pet’s doctor are also advised to ensure your
pet’s optimum dental health.
