Lisa Wilkins

pet care attendant

Lisa was born in Houston TX and lived in Denver Colorado till the age of nine. Since then she has lived in Arizona and Las Veges before returning to Texas at
age 17.

Lisa spent a lot of time on her grandparents farm who had several pets who were once strays. Lisa and her sister and bathed, groomed, De ticked, De flead, fed and walked these strays if they wanted to keep them on the farm, so she learned at a very young age how to care for animals.

Once after school a cute little dog followed her to the bus stop and appeared homeless so she hid the dog under her jacket and carried her home on the bus. She was welcomed with love and open arms and came to be known as Sammy Joe.

SammyJoe passed away at a very old age. When Lisa was a tech assistant at Operation kindness she found her partner Jennie. She
was a stray who had been hit by a speeding car and left for dead. Jennie had a broken pelvic bone and was only 21 lbs LIsa knew it was love at first site so she adopted her.

After surviving six months of
treatment and ammonia Jennie has full covered and has been a great joy. At Operation Kindness Lisacared for ill and injured animals for 3 yrs. She also became very familiar with handling Ferrell cats and aggressive dogs, which helped her have patience with frightened animals. It was hard seeing these animals every day but in that time Lisa learned the importance of animal health and now considers herself an animal advocate.

Lisa's goal is to become a behaviorist and specialize in helping aggressive dogs in shelters who are euthanized every year, hHe believesthese dogs need a voice and a loving hand with a lot of patience. Being a day camp counselor here at East Lake has given Lisa the opportunity to further my knowledge of dogs and I learn something everyday from the pets that visit her. SHe believes that dogs are great teachers!
