Luis Sandoval

Nurse

Luis is a native of Maracaibo, Venezuela. He grew up in Venezuela, between the Andean

mountains, the Caribbean Sea and the Amazon. Luis
been a team member at East Lake for over 3 years.

Talk about picture-perfect! Luis came to Dallas in December, 1999 when he brought two Antellean manaties to the Dallas World Aquarium. He planned on being here only three months, but met Alisa, his wife, and now Venezuela’s loss is our gain. Luis graduated from the University of Zulia with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He is perfecting his English and we are delighted to have him on our nursing team until he becomes a doctor in the U.S. He and Alisa have Emmy, a German Shepherd, Scarlett (a mix) and Cachorro (a DSH cat.)

His hobbies in Venezuela included trekking, hiking and climbing in the Andean mountains, going to the best beaches in the Caribbean (in Venezuela). In addition, in his home country, Luis played soccer, indoor soccer, softball and dominoes. In Dallas, he prefers biking around White Rock Lake and going to the movies.

Luis’ main interests are in South American wildlife. He would like to go back again someday and work with Venezuelan wildlife, especially in conservation programs with manaties and freshwater dolphins or to create a bird rehabilitation center.
