Dr.
Melanie Mercer is a native of Missouri and a 1989 graduate of
the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.
Her
work career includes clinical practice as well as a background
in microbiology and work with a number of no-kill animal shelters
in MO and TX.She has been certified by the Canine Rehabilitation
Institute (CRI) as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist and has returned
to East Lake to offer rehabilitation services. Other special interests
include canine reproduction and sports medicine.
Dr.
Mercer shares her life with a "pack" of sighthounds
(Irish Wolfhounds, Salukis, and Afghan hounds) who participate
in a variety of competitive sports, including lure coursing, amateur
dog racing and open field coursing, as well as AKC conformation
shows.
Rounding out the household is a small herd of sheep and goats
and their own guard donkey, Mabel.
